America. The Harlem Renassiance gave the African Americans some people and events for the first
time to say that they accomplished something. It was a literature and artistic movement celebrating their African American culture.

James Weldon Johnson was leader of the NAACP. NAACP was a group
of African american lawyers to fight for their rights/place in the country. Thurgood
Marshall became the first African American Supreme Court Justice. Zorneli Houston was an actress
and a writer who wrote about an African American's experience in the South. Louis Armstrong
was a trumpet player and was a huge part of famous African American music. Duke Ellington was
a jazz pianist. Betsy Smith was the highest paid female blues singer. Langston Hughes was a
famous poet who wrote about experiences with powerful words and got fame
internationally.

The message of this poem is to keep fighting for your dreams. It
will take hard work and you may fail at times, but you should keep trying to accomplish what
you want to accomplish. This poem is reaching out to the audience through an African American
viewpoint of how life is hard but they've never given up.
